        Cwpan Ceredigion - Bargod 6 v 0 Aberporth

First division Aberporth's expected difficult visit to Parc Puw soon became a reality, although for the first quarter of an hour they put together some neat football with the home side begining with an un-characteristic start, looking shaky and unsure at the back.

Ten minutes in and rangers settled and started playing, although play continued from end to end with both goalkeepers called into action, but the Aberporth keeper had no chance 18 minutes in with Harri Stevens' 25 yard bullet to put Bargod one up,the former central defender really looking comfortable in his central midfield role.Bargod's second goal was put away by goalpoacher Llew Jones after a defensive error in the Aberporth defence Jones increasingly knowing exactly where to be a the right time. Bargod's third was a cracker ten minutes into the second half when Memo Dag split open the Aberporth defence finding Phil Pocock out wide who's centimetre accurate pass reached Llew Jones for his secomd, heading powerfully into the corner of the net. Great team goal.

Aberporth by now, although fighting hard were reduced to an occasional forage into the Bargod danger area where Josh Partis dealt comfortably with everything that was thrown at him.A fourth goal was inevitable and was slotted home by evergreen Adam Morgan after smart play down the right side of midfield,a move that was started with Stephens turning and playing the ball to Tim Stedman on the halfway line Stedman carried then passed to pocock who ran down the wing with a fine cross for Morgan to calmly finish with his left foot..Rangers fifth came from a sliced clearance which fell to Stephens who failed to finish with a crowd of players between him and the goal, the rebound however fell to Jones who completed his hat-trick.  Bargod's sixth was the product of tireless running by Memo Dag, chasing down a long goal kick with two centre backs for company and forcing Aberporth's central defender to head past his own goalkeeper.

This was a an efficient performance by Bargod's young squad which was well marshalled by experienced John Buck at the heart of the defence .Manager Joe Prentice was particularly pleased with the performance and commented "Aberporth in the early stages moved the ball around well and we had a few hairy moments but once we had taken the lead we settled and from then on dominated the game.

This club has had immense success in years gone by and with our current squad we are building what will hopefully be a succesful future for the club with plenty of silverware" |
